Rev. Dr. John Hamlin passed away on Saturday, May 22 at 11:30 am in Bristol Village, Waverley, Ohio at the age of 94.
Dr.Hamlin must surely be ranked as one of the “foundation fathers” of the CCT as we know it today. He was not here when the CCT was formally constituted in 1934. But after WWII, in 1954, he was assigned the task by the United Presbyterian Church USA of serving as President (Dean) of the Thailand Theological Seminary, a post he filled with distinction for almost 20 years. His influence during those years in training and shaping the men and women who would serve as ministers and servants in the CCT has certainly left an indelible imprint on the character and ethos of the Church of Christ in Thailand.

A short-term mission group form Fleet Baptist Church together with Rev. Margaret Gibbs, Regional Secretary for Asia of Baptist Mission Society in the UK, paid a visit to the CCT headquarters on April 14. The team had finished four weeks of voluntary work in Chiang Mai and Mae Sariang running the children's programme for the BMS Regional Retreat and also organising an English camp for youth from the 19th District of the CCT. Fleet Baptist Church in Fleet, Hampshire have supported the Maycock family who have been serving with the CCT in the 19th District for the last five years. The group had not expected to visit the CCT headquarters, but with a cloud of volcanic ash hanging over most of Europe including Heathrow Airport their flight home was delayed for several days. It proved an excellent opportunity for staff from the CCT to get to know members from a partner church and for the Ecumenical Office to share with our visitors the broader vision of the CCT.
